BioDr. Joseph Moore is a senior staff researcher who focuses on the control of highly dynamic robotic systems in the presence of uncertainty. He is the principal investigator for a project to enable precision post-stall landing maneuvers with fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. He is also the principal investigator for a project seeking to incorporate aerobatic fixed-wing vehicles as part of an urban autonomous swarm via nonlinear model predictive control. Dr. Moore holds a joint appointment as assistant research faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering. Additional areas of expertise include dexterous manipulation, live-virtual-constructive environments, machine learning, mechanisms and dynamics, and motion planning.
