SPEAKER:Ìý Anthony Bonato\, Toronto Metropolitan Univ.

Networks measure interacti ons. The last twenty years witnessed an explosion of network methods appli ed to every discipline. From early examples like the web graph\, we now st udy networks made from neurons in the brain\, banking transactions\, chara cters in novels and films\, and species interacting in an ecosystem\, to n ame a few.

Although networks are everywh ere\, many are invisible. The secrets behind these hidden networks are onl y now being revealed. We give a guided tour of network science and offer i nsights into what makes networks tick.
