Chris Becraft is the operations executive for the Research and Exploratory Development Department (REDD) at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). He provides leadership and management of the business and administrative functions for the overall operation of the department of approximately 700 staff members. He is also the department representative on the Operations Forum and the Long Range Planning Team. At the Laboratory level, Mr. Becraft led the establishment of the Business, Enterprise-service, Administration, Communications, and Operations Network (BEACON) initiative, sponsored by the APL Operations Forum. This cross-organizational team is responsible for tackling APL-wide challenges, developing enterprise solutions, and building a strong, integrated operations culture for the Laboratory. Previously, Mr. Becraft was supervisor of the Business Operations Group in REDD for eight years. He has a master of business administration from the University of Baltimore and a B.A. in economics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
