Colloquium: Time for Real Strategic Thinking for U.S. Defense
- Monday, April 28 - Monday, April 28
Upcoming Dates
Abstract
It’s getting complicated. Will there be a cascade of countries with nuclear weapons if the U.S. furls its nuclear umbrella? Did COVID-19 demonstrate that the U.S. is vulnerable to a malicious bio attack? Will cyber plus artificial intelligence seriously compromise U.S. military lethality? Can the U.S. military thwart China without an incredibly destructive all-out conventional war? Can the U.S. deter with conventional force if nobody believes we will use it? Will seemingly inexorable climate change spawn violent threats to U.S. national security? With Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and many other countries banding together, should we expect that all future war is world war? It’s time for real strategic thinking tethered to reality, questioning assumptions and reconsidering priorities.
